Our School Day

Preschool

Hartford Preschool is a part of the Cam Academy Trust providing education for 3 and 4 year-olds. The maximum number of children that can be admitted is 20 per session (sessions are either morning OR afternoon). Children attend Monday to Friday in term time. There is no maximum limit on the amount of hours a child can attend* and sessions can be Nursery Education Funded [NEF]. All 3 and 4 year old children, are entitled to 15 hours of free early education and childcare per week. Some 3 and 4 year old children are also entitled to an additional 15 hours per week (30 Hours Childcare). NEF spaces are funded by the Government and/or paid for at a rate of £15 per 3 hour session. This ensures that the child has continuation of childcare provision. To promote this, we will not take children for less than 3 sessions (9 hours) a week.

Sessions times are:

• 5 morning sessions of 9.00am – 12 noon [15 hours] or
• 5 afternoon sessions of 12 noon – 3.00pm [bring a packed lunch] [15 hours] or
• 5 extended sessions of 9.00am – 3.00pm [30 hours] [bring a packed lunch] 

Reception

8.45am: Register & Morning Routine 

8.50am - 9.20am: Phonics

9.20am: Mini me time [focused ehanced provision activities, linked to indvidual next steps]

9.30am - 10am: COOL time [Choose Our Own Learning] and guided activities

10am - 10.15am: Snack & Story/PSHE/Assembly

10.30am - 11.35am: COOL time [Choose Our Own Learning] and guided activities

11.35am - 11.55am: Maths

12pm - 1.10pm: Lunch

1.10pm - 1.15pm: Calm time

1.15pm - 1.30pm: Whole-class input [literacy, enquiry, etc.]

1.30pm - 2.45pm: COOL time [Choose Our Own Learning] and guided activities

2.45pm - 3.10pm: Story, singing, circle time

3.15pm: Home

Key Stage 1 [Years 1 and 2]

See below for a typical day in Key Stage 1, each week is a total of 32.5 hours.

8.45am - 9.15am: Ready to learn time and routine

9.15am - 9.45am: Reading

9.45am - 10.30am: Maths or English or Science

10.30am - 10.45am: Snack and playtime

10.45am - 11.30am: Maths or English or Science

11.30am - 12pm: Phonics

12pm - 1.10pm: Lunch

1.10pm - 1.30pm: Maths Fluency

1.30pm - 2.45pm: Enquiry or Forest School or PE/PSHE

2.45pm - 3pm: Assembly

3pm - 3.10pm: Story time

3.15pm: Home
